FAQs
How much do pest exterminators cost?
There are a number of factors including the type of pest you’re dealing with and the extent of the problem. On average you can expect to pay between $120 and $275 to exterminate common pests and insects in or around your home. This equates to a rough average exterminator cost of about $175 per visit.
What does pest control do?
A pest control company or exterminator will use various methods to exterminate any pest or rodent in your home or business. They will deal with rodents, ants, mice, beetles, termites, wasps, mosquitoes, roaches, bed bugs, and fleas.
What are the four different types of pest control?
- Chemical Pest Control: A chemical procedure involves chemical treatments to either eliminate or deter any kind of pest. Chemical treatments tend to be one of the most popular types of control due to its effectiveness.
- Biological Pest Control: Biological control involves the use of living organisms to control a pest or rodent population. Parasites, plant pathogens, and predators are often introduced as biological control agents.
- Electronic Pest Control: Recent technological advances have allowed for alternative ways of dealing with pest problems. Electromagnetic systems are used to target the nervous systems of certain pests, repelling mice, rodents, arts and other insects. Ultrasonic devices are also used to emit high frequency sound ways that affect small vermin.
- Physical Pest Control: People who lack chemical, biological and electronic means of controlling a pest population will often rely on physical methods. Physical pest control uses natural barriers like nets or plastic sheets to protect crops.
Is pest control the same as an exterminator?
Exterminators rely on pesticides to eliminate unwanted pests, using chemicals that could be more toxic than necessary. In contrast, a pest control technician evaluates why the pests are present, to begin with, and alters the conditions that provide them a habitat that they want to remain in.
Are landlords responsible for pest control in California?
Yes! It was made clear by the California Department of Consumer Affairs that landowners or “landlords” are liable for keeping their buildings in livable conditions that include pest control. But remember that specific limitations can occur depending on the circumstances, so it’s always best to clarify things with the owner before renting a location or room.
